Hindi Concert - Glen Waverley

Hindi Concert VSL Glen Waverley The VSL Glen Waverley Centre was proud to present its annual Hindi concert. This included students from all year levels, and was attended by teachers, parents and other members of the community. Area Manager, Mr Kevin Ryan, along with Hindi Co-ordinator, Ms Manjeet Thethi, inaugurated the program by welcoming all guests. A short speech was delivered by a student on "Children's Day (14/11/17) which is celebrated as Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru's birthday. Grades 1- 3students started the concert with their dance performances, story- telling and patriotic song. Students of Years 4-7 followed this with prayer, funny poems and musical performances to celebrate "Diwali" ( Festival of Lights) and Children's Day. Years 8-10 students delivered a powerful speech on "Naari Shakti" and on pollution. Classical dance (Kathak) and Bollywood dancing were the main attractions of this concert. The program was very entertaining, yet thought- provoking and clearly depicting the linguistic growth of the students from Years 1-12. VCE students presented their views on "impacts of migration on our lives." Towards the end, the high achievers were awarded certificates for their efforts and hard work. On this occasion a former teacher, Ms Anita Goyal, gave an inspirational speech on children's progress and self-identity. She also congratulated the VSL for promoting love of languages. The annual Hindi Concert was a mix of cultural and academic performances. Students successfully presented their ever-growing skills and knowledge, as well as a deep understanding of Indian culture. This was well recognised and applauded by all parents, members of the community and proud teachers. Hindi co-ordinator Manjeet Thethi.
